Let the Heavens Resound!
Laulu-Miehet
Conducted by Matti Hyökki
Ilpo Laspas, organ
The concert Let the Heavens Resound! by the male choir Laulu-Miehet is a musical expression of humanity's timeless longing for comfort and peace. The collective prayer that has echoed through the centuries unites our time with generations past. The powerful bond between poetry and music offers solace and strengthens our faith in a better world and future.
Both a cappella works and pieces accompanied by organ — from Tomás Luis de Victoria’s O vos omnes to Franz Schubert's beloved Gott ist mein Hirt, and from the cult classic Vanha holvikirkko (The Old Vaulted Church) to Mikko Heiniö's modernist Amen — bring nourishment and joy to listeners. Just as breath and the flow of air sustain both organ and human voice, so does this music.
The programme also includes Finnish treasures by Sibelius and the evergreen Vanha virsi Taalainmaan karjamajoilta(The Old Hymn from the Cattle Cottages of Dalarna), naturally sharing the stage with European classics such as familiar works by J.S. Bach and Richard Wagner's Pilgrims’ Chorus.
Concert duration approx. 60 minutes, no intermission.
Tickets €15–35 + order fees (from €1.50 + 0.65% per order at www.lippu.fi)
