The traditional Midsummer Soiree of the Cathedral are held on the eve of Midsummer.

The sweet sounds of a summer evening fill Espoo Cathedral just on the threshold of Midsummer. The program includes summery vocal and instrumental music. Ralf Gothóni’s arrangements of Finnish folk songs, beloved solo songs by Oskar Merikanto, and of course the evergreen “Summer Night Waltz” will be performed. The concert also features “Sphere” composed for solo saxophone by Esa Pietilä, as well as music by Astor Piazzolla and Johann Sebastian Bach. In the atmosphere of the summer night, the audience also gets to sing along with the musicians.
