The flowing creek and a heartache! Schubert’s Die Schöne Müllerin takes us to a journey with a wandering miller to the creek, to new love and all the way to a tragic heartbreak. The creek becomes the traveller’s companion for the journey and the duo’s interaction can be heard in the alternation of the piano’s flowing melodies and vocals. Like the beloved Winterreise, Schubert composed Die Schöne Müllerin for poems by William Müller.

Bass-baritone Erik Rousi and pianist Justas Stasevsky have a long-standing collaboration and over the coming years they will record all of Schubert’s major song suites for the Alba Records. Die schöne Müller, released in March 2023, received an excellent international reception from audiences and critics alike.

“Ist das denn meine Straße?
O Bächlein, sprich, wohin?
Du hast mit deinem Rauschen
Mir ganz berauscht den Sinn.”

“Is this my path, then?
Oh brook, tell me, whither?
You have completely captivated me
With your flowing.”

Duration 60 min, no intermission.
Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE will broadcast the concert.
