Welcome to the traditional Juhannusiltamat, the Midsummer Celebration of the Urkuyö ja Aaria Festival, held at Honkamaja, the community hall of the Nuuksio Society in Espoo. In this concert, folk music and the sounds of midsummer create a joyful and heartfelt celebration of the Finnish summer night.
The programme features folk music-inspired arrangements by the ensemble, original compositions by the artists, traditional midsummer classics, and folk tunes from Kaustinen and beyond. Beloved Finnish classics such as Satumaa and Nocturne are part of the evening, alongside fresh new compositions. A special treat will be the premiere of a waltz composed by Timo Alakotila for a Midsummer wedding.
The music, vibrant and deeply rooted in Finnish tradition, flows from lively folk rhythms to tender and intimate moments — all in the hands of some of Finland's finest folk musicians. Come and experience the magic of Midsummer and let the music take root in your heart.
The concert will be streamed to care homes in the wellbeing areas of Espoo and Helsinki.
