Kenji Ohtani studied chorus conducting method in Sweden, Germany and England from 1983 to 1987. He graduated from the Department of Chorus Conducting, Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main (University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt am Main). He debuted as a conductor of Australia’s modern music piece for the Music Today supervised by Toru Takemitsu. He has often been in charge of conducting for many orchestras including NHK Symphony Orchestra. In 2001, he conducted for National Chorus of Korea and for the regular concert of Taipei Philharmonic Chorus in 2005. He received the Matsumura Awards. A conductor of the Philharmonic Chorus of Tokyo and a professor of Kwassui Women’s University,Music Research Department. At present, Otani works as a guest conductor of NHK Children’s Choir, as conductor of Tokyo Philharmonic Chorus.
